DUPONT, Wash. -- The Loggers secure their first team victory under head coach Connor Robbins, winning the PLU Invite with a team score of 690 (+114).
How it Happened
Puget Sound improved by 14 strokes in round two, shooting a team score of 338 (+50) and winning the tournament by 16 shots. Four golfers finished in the top 10 individually, with two in the top three. This marks the first win for the golf program since Robbins took over in 2021.
Elise Muding and Francesca Briniman led the way for the Loggers in round two, both firing an 83 (+11). Muding and Briniman, after firing identical scores of 94 (+22) in round one, both cut their strokes in half in round two. Both golfers tied for 7th place, jumping up several spots from round one.
Kira Goode and Cayton Smith both finished in the top three for the Loggers, as Goode finished in second place with a final score of 167 (+23). After firing a round one 79 (+7), Goode positioned herself well, but just fell short of the victory. Smith came out of the gates firing in round two, starting her round one under through four holes. She rounded out the scoring with the second-best day two score of 84 (+12), finishing tied for third place with a 169 (+25).
The Loggers' victory is a fantastic way to start the year, and gives them some momentum heading into the Pacific Invite.
