Loggers Complete Comback to Finish in 3rd at Puget Sound Invite

| By:
TACOMA, Wash. -- The women's golf team bounced back to edge out Whitman for third place, finishing strong at the Puget Sound Invite.

How it Happened
The Loggers posted several solid rounds in the 80s on Saturday, playing well across the entire lineup. Mia Teramae led the way in round one, recording a fairly flawless front nine 40 (+4). She had seven pars on the front, getting out to a one-over through six start. A couple of bogeys on the back led to a final score of 83 (+11) to lead the Logger scoring. Kira Goode got off to a slow start, but turned it around in the middle of her round. Five pars in a row from holes 9-13 carried her round as she finished with an 84 (+12).

Cayton Smith's first round was highlighted by back-to-back birdies on the sixth and seventh holes. Those birdies propelled Smith to an 85 (+13), finishing as the third-best Logger score of the day. Francesca Brinkman had a strong finish to her front nine, going two over through her final five holes to shoot 41 (+5) o n the front. She finished her round with an 87 (+15). Abigail Udlock rounded out the scoring five with a 92 (+20).

As individuals, Sydney Bell played well for the Loggers. She shot an 83 (+11) to tie Teremae for the best Logger round of the day. Reagan Molander also shot in the 80s, sneaking in with an 89 (+17). Sydney Ito rounded out the individuals with a 92 (+20).

In round two, Goode played one of her best rounds of the season. After starting with a double-bogey on the first hole, she turned birdies on the 4th, 6th, and 12th holes to get back to even par on the round. A tough stretch to finish turned her round into a 76 (+4), but the early success gives Goode momentum heading into the rest of the fall season.

Brinkman also put together one of the best rounds in her Logger career, shooting a 79 (+7) to sneak into the 70s. She put four pars together in a row on the front nine, and then went 1-under through five to start the back with a birdie on the 12th hole. Despite going three over through her final for holes, she still turned in a 38 (+2) on the back to break 80 for the first time this season.

Smith improved by a stroke in round two, shooting an 84 (+12) to cap her weekend. She avoided big numbers the entire day, playing solid golf for the majority of her round. Teramae followed her 83 (+11) with an 88 (+16), as Udlock shot a 96 (+24) to cap the Logger scoring for the day. Individually, Ito led the way this time around, shooting an 89 (+17). Molander (+20) and Bell (+22) rounded out the Logger scores.

After finishing round one in fourth place, the Loggers were able to use their solid play in round two to edge out Whitman by a stroke. They finished in 3rd place, their best of the season.
