| By:
NORTH PLAINS, Ore. -- The Loggers Women's Golf team placed 5th at the Northwest Conference Fall Classic, improving by 23 strokes on day two.

How it Happened
Round 1
The Loggers started their day on the back nine of Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club's Ghost Creek course, as everyone on the team pieced together a couple of solid rounds. Senior Kira Goode continued to play well for Puget Sound, stringing together two large stretches of pars to finish with an 81 (+10). After starting her first hole with a nine, she rebounded well, finishing out the back nine with seven pars and a lone bogey to finish with a 40 (+5). She continued her par streak from holes 2-6 on the front, playing four-over total outside of her big numbers.

Mia Teramae and Sydney Ito made their NWC debuts, coming in at 91 (+20) and 92 (+21) respectively. Teramae's round was highlighted by a birdie on the par-three 16th, going 44-47 to finish round one in 24th. Ito was consistent throughout the day, getting three of her four pars on the tough par threes.

Cayton Smith worked through a couple of big numbers on the front, shooting a 93 (+22) to close out the scoring four for Puget Sound. Her round was highlighted with a birdie on the par four 7th, shooting 48-45 to close out her round. Francesca Brinkman rounded out the Loggers on day one, shooting a 97 (+26).

Round 2
After a 357 (+73) team score on the first day, the Loggers pieced together four rounds under 90 to shoot a 334 (+50) on day two. While they didn't jump up in the standings, they played well enough to hold their ground in 5th place.

Goode and Teramae both shot in the 70s for Puget Sound, both carding a 79 (+8) to lead the Loggers. After starting double-double, Goode pieced together a back nine 36 (+1), highlighted by birdies on 10 and 15 to finish T-6th individually. Teramae launched up the leaderboard, sneaking into the top-20 after a back nine 39 (+4) kept her in the game. Six straight pars to finish helped her cause, as she carded her first round under 80 as a Logger.

Smith improved by six strokes from round one to round two, shooting an 87 (+16) in the final round. She pieced together a really solid stretch of golf on the back nine, shooting one over with four pars from holes 12-16. Her back nine 41 (+6) led the way, as she pieced together her best nine of the tournament. Brinkman also shot in the 80s, finishing her round by alternating pars and bogeys. She shot four over in her final 8 holes, closing out the tournament strongly. A couple of big number son the back nine plagued Ito, as she closed out the tournament with a 97 (+26).

Overall, the Loggers played really well, finishing the Fall Classic in 5th place. George Fox won the tournament with a score of 629(+61).
