Rowe Earns Tough Singles Win; Loggers Fall To Boxers

TACOMA, Wash. - - The University of Puget Sound men's tennis team hosted Pacific University for a Northwest Conference clash on Sunday morning at the Tennis Pavilion. Despite several hard-fought sets, the Loggers were unable to overcome a strong Boxers lineup, ultimately falling in the conference contest (1-6).

How it Happened

Pacific managed to sweep the doubles point to open the day. The Logger's top duo of Jason Rowe and Jackson Stumpf stayed within distance, but fell 6–4. At the No.2 spot, Gavin Dille and Tyler Blixt also fought to a 6-4 finish against a Boxers pair.

The highlight of the day for the Loggers came at No.1 singles, where Rowe put on a dominant performance. Rowe swept past Pacific in straight sets, winning 6-4, 6-4 to lead the Loggers at the top.

Other singles matches saw the Loggers battle through close sets:

Dille fought hard in his opening set before falling 7-5, 6-3.

Vincent Unpingco kept pace in his first set but ultimately dropped the match 7-5, 6-1.

Reef Gelder showed grit at the No.5 spot, falling 6-4, 6-4 to the Boxers.
 

What Happens Next

The Loggers head south to Portland, Oregon tomorrow, Monday, Feb 16, for a neutral site matchup against California Lutheran University. The contest will be hosted on the campus of Lewis and Clark College, with the first serve scheduled for 1 PM.
