FOREST GROVE, Ore. - - The University of Puget Sound women's tennis team traveled to Pacific University in Northwest Conference action on Sunday morning. While the Boxers ultimately defended their home courts with a 7-0 victory, the Loggers stayed aggressive throughout the match, creating several opportunities to swing the momentum.

How it Happened

Pacific managed to sweep the doubles matches to take the early point. At the No. 1 spot, Kaylee Yamada and Pearl Buck fell 6-2. The No. 2 duo of Francis English, and Nicole Wilson stayed within distance of their opponent throughout the set, ultimately falling 7-5 to Pacific's side.

The Loggers showed significant grit in singles play, starting with No. 1 singles, Yamada kept her opponent close at the top of the ladder, falling 6-4, 6-4.

No. 3 singles, Bean Lowe turned in a marathon performance against her opponent. After dropping the first set 6-4, Lowe stormed back to take the second set 7-5, forcing a decisive 10-point tiebreaker. Pacific ultimately edged out the win with a 10-5 finish in the third. No. 6 Singles had Meredith Friess battling point-for-point with Morgan Wagoner. After a 6-2 opening set, Friess pushed Wagoner in the second before falling in a tight 7-5 finish.

Each match provided a chance for the squad to test new strategies and find their rhythm under pressure. Puget Sound will look to carry that competitive energy throughout the season.
