ARCATA, Calif. -- The crew team made its first trip away from American Lake this season, traveling to California for the Blue Heron Regatta.
How it Happened
The Women's 1V8+ kicked things off for the Loggers, racing to a blazing time of 6:38.7 to place fourth in their heat. They finished just behind St. Mary's College and Cal Poly Humboldt, two elite California programs. The Women's 2V8+ also finished in fourth, crossing the line with a time of 7:19.5.
The Men's Novice 4+ then took to the line, rowing a time of 6:43.1 to pick up the first win of the day for the Loggers. The Women's Novice 4+ also finished in first place, beating out DI and DII programs to earn the win. They crossed the line in 8:38.7, and were the only crew under the nine-minute mark.
The final two wins for the Loggers came in the Women's 2x, and the men's Novice 8+. Puget Sound got the win in the Women's 2x over Lewis & Clark and Chico State, finishing with a time of 9:17.7 - an exceptionally good time for a crew of two. The men's novice 8+ took the course by storm wih a time of 7:00.3, finishing ahead of both Cal Poly Humboldt and Sacramento State.
What Happens Next
The Loggers head back to Washington for a scrimmage against Western Washington on Saturday, April 11th.
