Multiple Loggers Place First at Peyton-Shotwell Invite

| By:
TACOMA, Wash. -- The Loggers conclude their Tacoma swing with a great senior day at the Peyton-Shotwell Invite, soaking up the sun rays on a beautiful Tacoma afternoon.

How it Happened
In the field events, Thomas Goeglein kicked off the meet for the Loggers in the Men's Discus, placing first ahead of an elite field. His throw of 44.01m placed him ahead of several DI and DII athletes to pick up his first event win of the season. He then followed up that performance with a second-place finish in the Men's Shot Put, throwing a mark of 14.59m to cap off an excellent day.

Izac Stoilkovich also had a decent day in the Men's Javelin, throwing a mark of 46.52m to place sixth for the Loggers. Cody Gardanier and Brayden Decker placed 3rd and 4th in the men's high jump, both finishing with a mark of 1.87m to continue their strong first-year campaigns. Aliette D'Arcy also found herself a top-five finish with a jump of 10.16m in the Women's Triple Jump, rounding out the top performances for the Logger field events.

Ian Cook and Bria Metcalf-Lindenburger both raced well in the 3k steeplechase to start Puget Sound's track events off on the right foot. Cook broke the 10-minute mark with a time of 9:59.88 to place third, and Metcalf-Lindenburger won the Women's 3k Steeplechase with a time of 12:16.85. The men's 4x100 team also picked up an early win, winning their race with a time of 42.71. Whitney Nelson continued her success in the hurdle events, placing fifth in the 100m hurdles. She raced to a time of 16.23, racing well for the Loggers.

Avery Keith also found success in the Men's 400m, and has still yet to lose a race this season. He ran a 48.41, which is the 19th fastest time in DIII this year, continuing his excellent junior campaign. Lizzie Beiswanger won the Women's 400m as well, running a time of 56.58. Her time was good enough to place her 11th in DIII and in a good position to qualify for the 2026 NCAA National Championships.

Kyrstin Wilson improved on her time in the Women's 100m dash, and now has the 9th-best time in DIII this year, joining Keith and Beiswanger in the top-20 club. She crossed the line in 12.07 seconds, winning the race by over a tenth of a second. She is also close to the NCAA Championships in the Women' 200m, placing fourth at the Peyton-Shotwell Invite with a time of 25.07. Her time is good enough to place her 17th nationally, just inside the cusp to make the national meet.

Emily Moore raced well in the Women's 5k to conclude the individual events for the afternoon. She crossed the finish line with a time of 18:56.04, and was the fastest DIII competitor at the meet. The men's 4x400 team concluded the day with a third-placed time of 3:29.44, and the women's 4x400 placed second with a time of 4:01.74.
