TACOMA, Wash. - - The Logger men's tennis team battled through a marathon afternoon on their home courts, falling just short in a 4–3 decision against George Fox.
How it Happened
The Logger's top duo of Jason Rowe and Jackson Stumpf came out firing, delivering a dominant 6–2 win. However, George Fox managed to clinch the overall doubles point by taking the remaining two matches, including a hard fought 7–5 battle at the No. 3 position against Sam Lowery and Vincent Unpingco.
Trailing 1-0 heading into singles play, the Loggers showed immense fight, picking up three crucial points to keep the match within reach. Gavin Dille grinded out a three-set thriller at No. 3, bouncing back from a second set loss to win 6-3, 2-6, 6-3.
Reef Gelder displayed great stamina at No. 5, overcoming a first-set deficit to claim a 6-4, 6-4, 6-3 win. Sam Lowery put together a strong performance at No. 6, dropping the first set before storming back to take the third set for a 6-3, 6-0, 6-1 win.
The match ultimately hinged on the No. 1 singles spot, where Rowe pushed the Bruins to the limit. After splitting the first two sets(7-6, 3-6), the match was decided in a third-set tiebreaker, with George Fox narrowly edging out the win.
