Women's Golf Places Third at GFU Invite

| By:
MOLALLA, Ore. -- The Logger Women's Golf team competed well at the GFU Invitational at Arrowhead CC, placing third with two athletes placing in the top 10.

How it Happened
Kira Goode led the way for the Loggers, firing an 80 (+8) in round one for the best round of the weekend. Two birdies paved the way in round one, including a nine-hole stretch in the middle of her round that saw her even par. A slow start and finish led Goode to shoot an 80 (+8), but it was still a solid round for the Junior. She followed that up with an 84 (+12) in round two, but still placed sixth overall.

Elise Munding snuck into the top ten as well, shooting an 83 (+11) in round one and a 90 (+18) in round two. Her second round started off well, as she shot a 42 (+5) on the back nine (started on hole 10). A couple of double bogeys on the back nine slowed Munding down, but a solid finish still placed her 10th overall. Cayton Smith nearly missed the top ten individually, coming in third for the Logs. After firing a round one 94 (+22), Smith turned it around and fired a team-best 83 (+11) in round two to improve by over ten strokes. She finished the tournament in 12th, but bounced back well to give the Loggers some momentum heading into the Spring Classic.

Francesca Brinkman and Abigail Udlock rounded out the scoring for the Loggers, with Brinkman shooting a pair of scores in the low-90s to contribute to the scoring. A birdie on the par three 14th was the highlight of her round, as she shot a 95(+23) in round one before bouncing back with a 90 (+18) in round two. Abigail Udlock concluded the scoring, shooting a 107 (+37) in round one before a strong bounce-back in round two. She improved by eight strokes, rifling off a 99 (+27) to complete the Loggers' scores.

What Happens Next
The Loggers travel back to Tacoma for the NWC Spring Classic, hosting the tournament at Oakbrook Golf Club on April 4th and 5th.
