TACOMA, Wash. -- The Loggers kicked off their outdoor season with the
Ed Boitano Invitational, hosting their first of two home meets at Puget Sound this spring.
How it Happened
Cian Monaghan kicked off the meet on Friday in the 10k, capturing a top-10 finish with an impressive time of 31:19.17.
Noah Larsen finished in 13th, running a 31:36.73, as the duo were the two Loggers to finish under the 32-minute mark.
Emily Moore also ran well in the women's 10k, placing ninth with a time of 38:54.92.
On Saturday,
Rosali Patterson kicked off the field events with a seventh-placed finish in the women's discus, throwing a 33.38m mark to earn the Loggers' first points of the meet.
Thomas Goeglein also threw well in the Men's discus, throwing a 43.43m mark to place fifth. Goeglein placed in the top-5 in the shot put as well, throwing 13.99 meters to place fourth. Continuing on with the field events,
Max Pedrotti-Jacobs jumped 3.94m to slide into sixth. Aliette D'Arcy also placed sixth in the women's high jump, finishing with a final jump of 1.42m.
In the track events, the men's 4x100 relay team kicked things off with a third-place finish, running across the line with a time of 42.41. Senior
Gabriel Velazquez was up next in the men's 1500m, running well and placing 10th with a time of 4:16.56.
Bria Metcalf-Lindenburger also ran well in the women's 1500m, placing 10th while crossing the line at 5:05.98.
Avery Keith had the Loggers' lone victory of the day, beating out four of the top DII 400m runners in the region with a time of 48.20 in the 400m dash. This is a great start for Keith, as he's looking to become a back-to-back Northwest Conference champion this year.
Lizzie Beiswanger also ran well in the women's 400m, placing second with an impressive time of 56.93.
Jack Joyce was the highlight of the men's 100m dash, sneaking into the top-10 for the Loggers. His time of 10.99 sneaks him under the 11-second threshold, earning him a 10th-place finish.
Tdohasan Sunray was up next for the men in the 800m, placing eighth in a photo finish. He was one of eight runners to finish at 1:59, securing a point for the team.
Alana Lim put together a solid race in the women's 800m, running a sub-2:30 time to place 12th. She ran a 2:28.62 to kick off her junior campaign.
Whitney Nelson ran a quick time of 1:07.66 in the women's 400m hurdles for the Loggers, placing third by less than half a second. Beiswanger wrapped up the sprints for Puget Sound, placing 7th in the 200m with a 26.20 race.
Monaghan wrapped up his weekend in the men's 5k, placing fourth after crossing the line at 15:14.96.
Ian Cook also raced well, placing sixth with a time of 15:54.84.
Samantha Palm concluded the distance running in the women's 5k, placing 7th with a time of 19:25.56.
As is tradition, the teams wrapped up the heat with the 4x400m relay. The men's team placed third with a time of 3:21.70, and the women's team placed second with a 4:07.68. Beiswanger moved the team up two spots in the anchor leg, capping off a solid weekend for the Loggers.

Kyrstin Wilson competed in the final indoor Qualifier hosted by UW-Lacrosse this weekend as well, making a final attempt to qualify for the NCAA Indoor National Championships. She matched her personal best time of 7.65 in the 60m dash, placing second in the meet and coming ever so closer to the qualifying mark. The final list of qualifiers will be released early next week.

The Loggers travel to the south side of Tacoma for the PLU Invitational next weekend, March 13th and 14th.
