WALLA WALLA, Wash. - - Logger women's tennis wrapped up a busy road trip Sunday, falling 6-1 to Whitman College. The matchup marked the Loggers' third match in three days as Puget Sound closed out its weekend slate on the road.
How It Happened
The Loggers showed great chemistry in the doubles session, highlighted by a standout performance at the No. 2 spot. Nicole Wilson and Frances English secured a hard-fought 6-4 win, earning a big win for the Loggers' duo. Kaylee Yamada and Pearl Buck battled at the top but narrowly missed out in a 7-5 thriller. Ginger Parker and Hannah Nejedly Welt fell 6-3 in their matchup.
In singles action, Pearl Buck gave the Loggers a lift. She dominated her match at No. 4 singles, cruising to a straight-sets victory (6-1, 6-2) to put a point on the board for the Loggers.
Across the rest of the singles lineup, the Loggers faced a tough challenged from the Blues. At the top, Yamada fell 6-0, 6-2 at No. 1, while English dropped her match 6-3, 6-0. At No. 3, Wilson was defeated 6-1, 6-1, and Zoe Richter fell 6-2, 6-1 at the No. 5 spot. Rounding out the day at No. 6 Meredith Friess pushed her opponent deep into the second set but ultimately came up short in a 6-2, 7-5 battle.Â
