How it Happened
Puget Sound jumped out to an early lead in doubles play at the No. 2 spot, where Gavin Dille and Tyler Blixt secured the 6-3 victory. The pair played efficient tennis and were a spark for the Loggers early on.
At the top, Jason Rowe and Jackson Stumpf battled in a close matchup, falling just short in a 7-5 contest. The Pirates managed to sweep the remaining doubles point at No. 3 as Sam Lowery and Aidan Kresko were turned away in a 6-3 score.
After dropping the opening set of No. 1 singles, Rowe completely shifted the momentum. He tightened up his game to take the second set 6-3 and maintained that pressure through the decider to clinch the match 6-4.
Dille engaged in another marathon match at the No. 2 spot. After dropping the first set 6-1, Dille roared back to take the second 6-4. The Pirates managed to reclaim the advantage in the deciding set, leaving Dille with a tough 6-2 loss.
Reef Gelder at the No. 3 spot struggled early against his opponent. After a 6-0 first set, Gelder was forced to retire due to injury, cutting the match short.
The Pirates secured straight-set wins in the final three singles matches. Silverstein, Lowery, and Blixt all faced clinical performances from their opponents, with each Logger falling by a score of 6-1, 6-0.
