Loggers Drop Hard Fought Dual at Home to Pirates

| By:

TACOMA, Wash. - - Logger women's tennis hosted Whitworth on Saturday, falling 7-0 to the Pirates.

How It Happened

The match opened with a high energy doubles session. At the top spot, Kaylee Yamada and Pearl Buck battled through long rallies before falling 6-2. The most intense action came from the No. 2 and 3 spots where Frances English and Nicole Wilson, and Ginger Parker and Hannah Nejedly Welt both went head to head with Whitworth, with each Logger pair narrowly dropping their sets 6-4.

Yamada provided a competitive push at No. 1 singles. Facing a tough Pirate opponent, Yamada played a consistent game that came down to just a few key plays. She ultimately fell in a close 6-4, 6-4 decision.

English and Bean Lowe faced tough opponents at the two and three spots. English fought hard in a 6-1, 6-0 result, while Lowe showed defensive range in a 6-1, 6-1 match.

The back half of the rotation saw Wilson and Zoe Richter stay aggressive despite the pressure. At the No. 6 spot, Meredith Friess couldn't quite find a rhythm, dropping both sets 6-3, 6-1.
