| By:

TACOMA, Wash. - - The Logger women's tennis team closed out their season on Sunday, battling Whitman at home. While the Blues took the match 5-2, the Loggers highlight featured two wins during singles play.

How It Happened

The afternoon started with drama at the No. 1 doubles position. Kaylee Yamada and Pearl Buck pushed Whitman's top duo to the limit, forcing a tiebreaker before falling 7–6 (7-5). At the No. 2 and No. 3 spots, the Loggers fell 6–1 and 6–0, giving the Blues the early momentum.

Puget Sound found its stride in singles play, picking up two hard-earned points.

Buck provided a stand-up performance at No. 4 singles, where she was in total control from the first serve. Buck dismantled her opponent in straight sets, 6–2, 6–4, to put the Loggers on the board.

The other highlight for Puget Sound took place at No. 5 singles, where Zoe Richter showed incredible resilience. After dropping the first set 6–2, Richter completely flipped the script. She battled back to take the second set 6–4 and went on to dominate the third set 6–2 to secure another point for the Loggers.

Other notable efforts included Meredith Friess at the No. 6 spot, who fought through a tight first set before falling 7–5, 6–2. At the top of the order, Yamada fell 6-4, 6-3 and Frances English kept her match competitive before ultimately falling to a strong Whitman lineup (6-4, 6-2).
