Loggers Win Judy McMullan Trophy in Strong Performance at NCRC

VANCOUVER, Wash. -- The Loggers win the Judy McMullan Trophy, taking the title as the top DIII team in the Northwest this season. 

How it happened
The Women's 2V8+ got the log rolling, jumping out to a time of 7:51.88 to start the day. They were so close to the victory, finishing just one second behind Lewis & Clark who took the NCRC Women's 2V8+ title. Pacific Lutheran finished in third, 21 seconds behind the Loggers. 

The race of the day was at 10:00 am, as the Loggers raced against Pacific Lutheran, Lewis & Clark, and Pacific for the Women's 1V8+ title. The Loggers won the Judy McMullan Trophy, racing to a time of 7:06.09 and beating second-place PLU by eight seconds. Lewis & Clark came in third, with Pacific wrapping up the rear. 

The Men's Novice 4+ was the next Logger boat to row, racing well against some solid club teams in the area. They finished in second place, only one second behind Western Washington, crossing the line at 7:22.53. The Women's Novice 4+ also raced well, rowing an 8:11.40 to take first place. The Men's Novice 8+ continued to show their strength, placing first and rowing a 6:57.66 to edge Western Washington by 13 seconds. 

The final two races of the day were the women's 2x and Women's 2-, both won by the Loggers. Puget Sound edged out the three other conference teams in the 2x, rowing an 8:30.90 to win by 16 seconds. The 2- was the largest gap of the day, with the Loggers winning by 46 seconds over three Cal Poly Humboldt squads. 

Overall, the Loggers raced well, and got several solid results heading into the WIRA Championships.

What Happens Next
The Loggers head to Gold River, Calif. for the WIRA Championships next weekend, April 25th and 26th.
