PORTLAND, Ore. - - The Logger men's tennis team faced a tough test on Thursday, falling 7-0 to a strong UC Santa Cruz squad in a neutral site contest.
How it Happened
The Slugs managed to sweep the doubles point, but the Loggers didn't make it easy. At the No. 1 spot, Jason Rowe and Jackson Stumpf engaged in a heavy battle before falling 6-2. The No. 2 duo of Tyler Blixt and Gavin Dille fought to the same result, while Aidan Kresko and Sam Lowery pushed their opponents to a 6-3 finish at the No. 3 position.
Singles play was highlighted by Sebastian Silverstein at the No. 5 spot. Silverstein came out firing to take the opening set 6-2. After dropping the second set 6-2, he pushed his match into the third-set tiebreaker, ultimately falling short in one of the most competitive matchups of the day.
At the top of the lineup, Rowe kept things close (6-4, 6-3), while Lowery battled through a tight second set at No. 6 (6-2, 6-4). Dille, Vincent Unpingco, and Reef Gelder also showed resilience against a tough UC Santa Cruz rotation.
