NORTH PLAINS, Ore. -- The Loggers finish up their season at the NWC Championships, finishing in ninth place with a two-day score of 606.
How it Happened
Day 1
Charlie Stephens got off to a great start on day one, shooting a 73 (+2) to lead the Logger scoring. After a double on his second hole of the day, he bounced back and shot even par the rest of the way. Cade Steeter was next, firing a 75 (+4). Streeter got off to a fantastic start, birdying two of his first four holes to kick off his day. He held a share of the lead early, as he continued his good play at two-under through seven holes. A couple of bogeys coming in dropped his score, but he still finished with a solid round.
Andrew Spitzer and Michael Baker both shot 76 (+5) on day one, cleaning up their rounds with no doubles or higher. Their consistent play kept the Logs rolling. Despite finishing round one in eighth place, they were just seven strokes out of fourth, with plenty of golf left to play.
Day 2
The second and final day of action saw four more scores in the 70s, as the Loggers rattled the back nine with birdies. Streeter and Spitzer both had solid rounds, as Streeter picked up four birdies on his way to a 75 (+4). He finished even though his final 10 holes, included one under in his final three to cap of his season positively. Spitzer also fired a 75 (+4), picking up an eagle and two birdies to shoot 151 (+9) for the tournament. He caught fire in the middle of the round, going four under through holes 6-12 to bring his score to 2-under for the day. A couple of doubles down the stretch pushed him back a little, but still a positive round for the senior.
Baker continued the trend of four birdies on the day, firing a 77 (+6) to cap his season. Following his round of 73 (+2) in round one, Stephens struggled to get the log rolling in day two. He played well down the stretch, though, finishing just one over par in his final seven holes to fire a 79 (+8).
The Loggers conclude their season and will be back in action next fall.
