GOLD RIVER, Calif. -- The Women's Crew team performed well at the WIRA Championships, and is in position to secure a bid to the NCAA Championships.

How it Happened
The Women's 1V8+ kicked the races off on Saturday, rowing well and securing a spot in the grand final. They finished in second place in their heat with a time of 7:02.2, just behind Cal Poly Humbolt. The 2V8+ also raced well, finishing as the highest finishing DIII boat. They crossed the line at 7:55.7, placing fourth and also advancing to the Grand final.

On Sunday, April 26th, the 1V8+ improved on their time, and finished exactly where they were seeded heading into the championship. They rowed a 6:57.8, placing third just 0.04 seconds behind DII Cal Poly. The big news, is that they finished ahead of cross-town rival Pacific Lutheran, which gives the Loggers the best chance of making the NCAA Championships in late May. The Women;s 2V8+ also placed third, rowing a time of 7:39.1, and improving on their Saturday time by 16 seconds.

This is the first time that the Loggers have secured a medal at the WIRA Championships since 2014, and one of the first times they have broken the 7:00 2k mark on neutral water.

The Men's Novice 8+ also rowed well, winning their Petite final with a time of 6:39.5. The Women's Novice 4+ also picked up a win with a time of 7:57.2, capping off a fast weekend for Puget Sound.
