Loggers Jump Three Spots to Finish Spring Classic in Sixth

| By:
LAKEWOOD, Wash. -- The men's golf team played some solid golf this weekend, jumping up three spots on the final day of the tournament to finish in a tie for sixth place.

How it Happened
Day 1
The Loggers were extremely consistent across the board, with each golfer firing either a 76 (+5) or 77 (+6) in round one. Cade Streeter started off his round with a bang, picking up three birdies in the first nine to begin his day with a front nine 34 (-2). A bit of trouble down the stretch meant a back nine 42 (+7) as Streeter finished with a 76 (+5). Michael Baker and Drew Spitzer also both shot five over, as the pair both picked up three birdies en route to shooting 76 (+5).

Jack Kuntz had a great start to his first round, picking up an eagle on the par-5 first hole. He followed that up with a birdie on hole to in a dream start from the senior. Despite the great start, a couple of holes made the difference on the round, as a couple of big numbers popped up on the leaderboard. Kuntz finished with a 77 (+6). Charlie Stephens was the final 77 (+6) of the day, playing a simple round with a pair of birdies. Stephens' birdie on the par three second was the highlight of the day, picking up a stroke on the field.

Day 2
Stephens was the low round of the day in the final round of the Spring Classic, firing an impressive 72 (+1) to finish the tournament in 12th place. After starting on hole eight, Stephens fired off five straight pars to begin his round. He kept it simple on the back nine, shooting a 36 (+1), with a birdie on the par-three 16th. That birdie kicked off a fantastic stretch, as he made the turn and eagled the par-five first hole, and followed that with a birdie on the second. A double bogey on the fifth sent Stephens back two strokes, but he still carded an excellent round.

Spitzer also improved on his day one score, shooting a 74 (+3) on day two. After a bogey on the first hole of the day, he turned it around and shot 1-under in his final seven holes to get a stroke back on the field. Streeter followed suit with a 75 (+4), playing the middle 14 holes of his round in one over par. Baker rounded out the counting scores, firing a 78 (+7) to help the Loggers improve their team score by six strokes on day two. Kuntz finished out the scores with an 84 (+13).
