LAKEWOOD, Wash. -- The Puget Sound cross country team kicked off their season at their sole home event of the year, with both men's and women's teams finishing in second place. 

How it Happened
Men's Race
Noah Larsen kicked off his sophomore campaign in impressive fashion, finishing in second place overall. With a 5k time of 15:18.2, he bested his time from last year at the same venue by nearly a full minute. Ian Cook also ran well, placing 11th with a time of 15:53.2. 

Rounding out the top-15 finishes were junior Emerson Ingraham and freshman Noah Escobedo. Ingraham clocked in a time of 16:05.6 to place 13th, and Escobedo kicked off his collegiate career with a 15th-place time of 16:08.1. Just behind Escobedo was Noah Brown, who snuck into the top-20, finishing in 19th and running a time of 16:12.70. 

Three more Loggers came across the finish line to finish out the scoring seven, as Ethan Chesire, Tdohasan Sunray, and Dominic Turner all finished in 23rd-25th. Cheshire and Turner kicked off their freshman campaigns with solid times of 16:22.5 and 16:23.6, as the duo are a part of the bright Logger future. Sunray, the lone senior on the men's squad, split the times of the two freshmen with a 16:23.2. In his second year running cross country, Sunray looks to improve on his times from last season. 

Women's Race
Emily Moore continued her success from last season after being named to the All-Northwest Conference team. She kicked off her season in second place, finishing just behind DII Seattle Pacific's Esther Paulson. Her time of 18:29.4 was good enough to put  6-second gap between her and third place, as she jumped off to a great start for the Loggers. 

Erin Schmidlin wasn't far behind, finishing in 8th with a time of 19:10.2. She kicks off her senior season running well for the Loggers, piecing together a solid race. Sarah Gardner and Lydia Cocciolone finished neck and neck, placing 10th and 11th, respectively. Gardner came across the line in 19:19.2, with Cocciolone right on her tail at 19:21.7.  

Samantha Palm also ran well in the season-opener, placing 13th with a time of 19:38.4. Freshman Ingrid Haaland broke the 20-minute mark for the Loggers as well, running a 19:50.8 to place 16th. Hanna Cortright, another Logger freshman, rounded out the scoring seven with a time of 20:26.8.

The Loggers stay in Tacoma, heading over to the PLU Invite next Saturday, September 19th.
