Loggers scheduled for midweek doubleheader in Portland

TACOMA, Washington – Two days after completing a three-game series at home against Whitworth, the Puget Sound baseball team heads to Portland for a doubleheader at Lewis & Clark on Wednesday, March 29, starting at 2 p.m. Concordia is hosting the games at Porter Park. The games are being made up March 4.

Strong arms

Despite losing two out three home games against Whitworth, the Loggers' starting pitchers continued to impress. Joshua Zavisubin, Merle Rowan-Kennedy, and Joe Brennan combined to allow six earned runs in 18.1 innings (2.94 ERA). Overall, the Loggers are third in the Northwest Conference with a 3.91 ERA.


Three go yard

Three Loggers hit their first home runs of the season during the doubleheader split against Whitworth on Saturday. James Dejesus hit a home run in the day's first game, while Matt Shelhamer and Mason Quinlan both cleared the fences in the second game.


Rivalry returns to Cheney

The crosstown rivalry between Puget Sound and Pacific Lutheran returns to Cheney Stadium on Tuesday, April 4, at 6 p.m. Click HERE for more information.


Scouting Lewis & Clark (4-19, 3-10 NWC)

The Pioneers are in the midst of an 11-game scoring streak. In three games against Pacific this past weekend, Lewis & Clark was outscored, 21-5. The Pioneers' .310 slugging percentage ranks last in the NWC, and their 6.47 ERA is also last. Nick Lockwood leads the team in hitting with a .311 average. Akira Abderrahman, Tommy Massari, and Sean Shepherd each have two home runs.
