Puget Sound hosts Autumn Invitational

TACOMA, Washington – The first regatta of the school year is Saturday, Oct. 26, when the Loggers host the Puget Sound Autumn Invitational starting at 8:30 a.m. on American Lake in Lakewood, Washington. It is the only competition of the fall for Puget Sound.

 

The competition

Women's boats will be represented by Puget Sound, Pacific Lutheran, Lewis & Clark, University of Portland, and Seattle University. Men's competition includes Puget Sound and Lewis & Clark, with club boats from Pacific Lutheran and Western Washington.

 

Senior leadership

The Puget Sound  varsity women return a handful of seniors from last year's squad, including Emily Bessen, Hannah Caruso, Louisa Cryan, Jill La Fetra, Leslie Machabee, Monica Schweitz, and Katie Snodgrass.

 

Returning men

Key returners for Puget Sound men's crew include senior Matthew Imanaka, junior Zach Jarvis, and sophomore Ben Sovocool.

2018-19 Highlights

Puget Sound placed two All-Northwest Conference rowers in Alyssa Bebout '19 and Katie Snodgrass. Bebout was also named a CRCA All-American. The Puget Sound men captured both the Meyer Cup and the Rainier Cup, while the women placed second in the NWC Championships. The W2V8 qualified for the grand final in the WIRA Championships, where it placed sixth with a time of 7:14.032.
