TACOMA, Washington – Senior linebacker Dwight Jackson and sophomore kicker Alex Everett both received Northwest Conference honors following the Puget Sound football team's 24-23 overtime win against George Fox in Baker Stadium (Oct. 5).
Jackson was named the NWC Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week, and Everett was named the NWC Special Teams Student-Athlete of the Week. It's the second such honor of Everett's collegiate career.
Jackson led the Loggers' defensive efforts with nine tackles, and he recorded two of Puget Sound's six sacks. The Logger defense leads the NWC with 13 sacks.
With the Loggers trailing 17-14, Everett kicked the game-tying field goal as regulation time expired, sending the Homecoming contest into overtime. Everett was 3-for-3 in point-after attempts, and he booted a 48-yard punt.
Puget Sound has a tough road challenge ahead at No. 23 Linfield Saturday, Oct. 12. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
