YAKIMA, Wash. - Junior Natalie Nakamine (Honolulu, Hawaii/Roosevelt) shot a second-round 88 to tie for seventh as the Puget Sound Loggers finished in fourth place at the Northwest Conference Spring Clasic at Apple Tree GC in Yakima, Wash.
On the second day of competition, Maresa Jenson (Whitefish, Mont.) and Megan Starr (Minnetonka, Minn./Hopkins) led the Loggers with rounds of 87 as they finished tied for 12th and 15th respectively. Junior Sarah Bicker (Salt Lake City, Utah/Skyline) had a rough day, carding a 95 to tie for 19th.
Unfortunately for the Loggers, sophomore Stephanie Hoffee (Sandy, Utah/Waterford) was forced to withdraw, forcing the Loggers to use all four scores as they fell from second to fourth with a day-two 357.
Briana Nap of George Fox took medalist honors after carding a 17-over 161 for the 36-hole tournament. George Fox also overcame a 10-stroke deficit to jump from third place to first place with a day-two 324 to finish 89-over par.
Whitworth took second with a 672, followed by Linfield (688), Puget Sound (694), Pacific (718), Whitman (768), Pacific Lutheran (787) and Willamette (901). Lewis & Clark did not have enough golfers present to score.
In the Northwest Conference standings through the Fall and Spring Classics, George Fox sits in first place with 16 points. Whitworth is second with 14 points, followed by Linfield (12), Puget Sound (9.5), Whitman (7.5), Pacific (7), Pacific Lutheran (2) and Lewis & Clark (0).
Teams receive one point for every team they finish ahead of in the Fall and Spring Classics and two points for every team they finish ahead of in the NWC Championship Tournament, scheduled for April 24-25 at Heron Lakes GC in Portland, Ore.
