OLYMPIA, Washington – The Puget Sound men's golf team placed fifth, and the women finished sixth, in the Northwest Conference Spring Classic at Olympia Golf Club. The two-round competition concluded Sunday.
The Logger men improved by 22 strokes from the first round to the second. Overall, they finished 24 strokes behind the winning team, Whitworth.
Mac Turner paced the Loggers by tying for seventh. He shot a 78 in the first round, and a 73 in the second, to finish 11 strokes over par. Cole Albert and Colin Rajczak tied for 19th out of the 41 golfers. The two Loggers finished with a 156 between the two rounds.
On the women's side, Kristi Koyanagi was the top golfer for Puget Sound. She shot a 95 in the first round, and improved her score by three strokes in the second round.
Allison Niitani tied for 26th out of 39 golfers, and Onti Rosen finished 28th.
The Loggers have a week off from competition before the NWC Championships, April 27-28, in Walla Walla, Washington.
