Loggers head to Whitworth and Whitman

TACOMA, Washington – The Puget Sound men's soccer team is set to travel to Whitworth and Whitman. The Loggers (4-3, 2-0 NWC) will have their first road NWC match against Whitworth on Saturday, September 26, before heading to Whitman on Sunday, September 27.

Puget Sound's Last Weekend

The Loggers opened their Northwest Conference schedule 2-0 last weekend on Peyton Field. Josh Sonico's hat-trick lead the team to a 3-1 victory over Pacific, before a game-winner from Sam Zisette gave Puget Sound a 2-1 overtime victory against George Fox.

Student-Athlete of the Week

Josh Sonico was named the Northwest Conference Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week for his performance last weekend. The senior scored three goals in the Loggers victory over Pacific. He also assisted Zisette's golden goal in overtime of Sunday's win against George Fox.

Logger Leaders

Sonico leads Puget Sound with four goals scored. Tristan Stevenson and Sam Zisette lead the squad with two assists. Goalkeeper Daniel Kirsch is 4-2 on the year, making 18 saves with a 1.07 goals-against average.  

Scouting the Pirates (6-0, 2-0 NWC)

Whitworth University is located in Spokane, Washington, and the team competes in the Northwest Conference. Most recently, the Pirates defeated Willamette (1-0) and Linfield (2-0). Karl Muelheims leads the squad with seven goals, while four different players have recorded two assists this year. Goalkeeper Timmy Costa (5-0) has made 16 saves and has three shutouts, while putting up a 0.40 goals-against average.  

Scouting the Missionaries (1-4, 1-1 NWC)

Whitman College is located in Walla Walla, Washington, and the team competes in the Northwest Conference. In the opening weekend of conference play, the Missionaries lost to Linfield (3-1) before earning their first win of the season over Willamette (1-0). Four players have one goal, while Bridger Sellegren and Paal Nilssen each have two assists. Goalkeeper Milo Cantor is 1-2, making 13 saves with a 1.07 GAA.
