TACOMA, Washington – Dane Schatz totaled three points as the Puget Sound men's soccer team beat Linfield, 4-3, in a wild Northwest Conference opener at Baker Stadium Saturday afternoon.
Schatz's first goal broke a 1-1 tie in the 32nd minute, and he assisted on the game-winning goal off a set piece from 35 yards out in the 67th minute.
Although Linfield (2-3, 0-1 NWC) got in the board first in the 11th minute, Lincoln Schnell evened the score three minutes later with his first goal of the season.
The Wildcats tied the game, 2-2, in the 38th minute, but Gabriel Faro-White tallied a goal second before halftime to give the Loggers a 3-2 lead at the break.
Puget Sound remains at home Sunday, Sept. 16, to host defending NWC Co-Champion Willamette at 2:30 p.m.
