Nearly 90 Puget Sound student-athletes received their undergraduate diplomas during the university’s 127th commencement in Baker Stadium Sunday afternoon. More than 3,000 people were attendance during the warm and sunny event.
Puget Sound Athletics finished fourth for the 2018-19 Northwest Conference McIlroy-Lewis All-Sports Trophy, rounding out the academic year with 198 points. The Loggers matched Whitman in the standings, and Whitworth led the NWC with 268 points.

Sam Gonzalez is no longer just an Academic All-District honoree. The Puget Sound men’s soccer senior captain was named an Academic All-American today by the College Sports Information Directors of America. He is the only NCAA D-III men’s soccer student-athlete from the district to earn Academic All-American this fall.
Puget Sound men’s soccer senior captain Sam Gonzalez received an academic honor from the College Sports Information Directors of America, CoSIDA announced Thursday. The Boise, Idaho native was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team. He qualifies for the CoSIDA Academic All-American honor.
Puget Sound men’s senior goalkeeper Wren Norwood finished his collegiate career by earning Northwest Conference Student-Athlete of the Week (defense), the conference announced this week. It’s the second time he earned the award this season.
Junior Luke Murdock gave his senior teammates a sweet parting gift by scoring the game-winning goal of a 1-0 Puget Sound men’s soccer victory at Pacific Lutheran Saturday afternoon. It was the final game of the 2018 season for the Loggers.
