NEWBERG, Ore. – For the second time in as many days, the Puget Sound men's tennis team fell 9-0. George Fox came away with the sweep on Saturday in Newberg, Ore.
The sweep began with two doubles wins for the Bruins (9-7, 8-3 NWC) in the #1 and #2 matches. John Stevens and Abe Noyes challenged their competitors across the net in Drew Milton and David Munoz but the Bruin duo was able to fight off the challenge with an 8-6 win.
Five singles matches were won in straight sets with the Bruins cruising to the team victory. With the match well in hand, Michael Cutter took Milton to the brink. Cutter won the first set 6-4 but Milton fought back with a 6-2 win in set two. With the match decided, the two played a tiebreaker third set and Milton snuck away with a 15-13 win to complete the sweep.
The Loggers are back at home next week to host Linfield at 4 p.m. on Friday.
