Softball heads to Portland for series with Pioneers

Change of venue

Due to forcasted rain, this weekend's series will take place at Rosemont Middle School in West Linn, Ore. 

Puget Sound's last weekend

Puget Sound (1-11, 1-7 NWC) took on Pacific in four games last weekend. The team split a doubleheader on Saturday, before falling twice on Sunday. The Loggers hit three home runs in the four games.

E. Gott in the house

Erica Gott hit two home runs in one game against Pacific this weekend. During the same game, the sophomore threw a complete game in the circle. She is second on the team with a .306 batting average for the year, hitting three home runs, five doubles, and recording six RBI. Gott leads the team with a .694 slugging percentage.

Forever Young

Jaci Young is proving to be a consistent force in the field, on the mound, and at the plate. The junior has thrown four complete games, and earned a win for the Loggers against Pacific last weekend. She has struck out 23 batters, good for fourth in the league, and leads Puget Sound with a 5.82 ERA. When not pitching, Young plays center field. At the plate, she has hit two doubles and two home runs.

Okay Kayla

Kayla Andrus leads the Loggers at the plate with a .394 batting average and .459 on base percentage. She also is second with a .576 slugging percentage. The senior has three doubles and a team-leading seven RBI.

Scouting the Pioneers (6-9, 1-6 NWC)

Lewis & Clark opened the Northwest Conference schedule losing four games to Whitworth. Last weekend, the Pioneers went 1-3 against Pacific Lutheran. The final game was postponed due to weather. L&C is hitting .321 as a team and has hit six home runs in 15 games. Paige Salavea leads the squad with a .431 batting average. She has hit four doubles and two triples, while walking six times and recording eight RBI. The Pioneers have a large pitching staff, with four players throwing at least 10.0 innings. Kalin Rooney is 1-1 with one save and a 4.12 ERA, while Kaili-Ann Akimseu is 1-0 with a complete game and a 2.33 earned run average. Kady Bruce is 1-1 with a 3.75 ERA and nine strikeouts in 18.2 innings pitched.
