The Loggers jumped on top in the first inning. Kristi Nagamine started the inning with a double. Amber Popovich laid down a sacrifice bunt, but the pitcher could not make the play and Nagamine was able to come home and score. Kayla Andrus then hit a home run to put Puget Sound up 3-0.

Puget Sound added four more runs in the second inning. Amanda Fehr started off the inning with a solo home run to center field. The Loggers then loaded the bases for Andrus, who doubled to left field, bringing home two more runs. Mckenna Johnson followed that with a sacrifice bunt, which extended the lead to 7-0.

The Pirates got two runs back on a 2-RBI double by Morgan Portlock in the third inning. However, Puget Sound would get those two runs back in the fourth inning when Johnson smoked a double to center field, allowing Popovich and Nagamine to score.

Whitworth closed the gap to 9-5 in the top of the fifth inning, and then closed the score to 9-7 in the sixth inning. The Loggers pushed their cushion back to four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning by way of a Pirate fielding error, and an Erica Gott RBI double.
