Softball begins conference play at home against Linfield

TACOMA, Washington – The Puget Sound softball team begins its Northwest Conference schedule by hosting Linfield for back-to-back doubleheaders starting Saturday, Feb. 24, at 12 p.m.

Marissa Oda the fence

Sophomore Marissa Oda has two home runs already this season, the first two of her collegiate career. She hit a solo shot against Northwest at home (Feb. 10), and had another solo bomb at Whittier (Feb. 18).


Hits leaders

Both Erica Gott and Mackensie Pearlstein are tied for the NWC lead in total hits with 10.


Bring 'em home

Haley Gray leads the Loggers with five RBI this season, and three Loggers have four RBI: Marissa Oda, Mackensie Pearlstein, and Jessica Gott.


Gott-a have two

Erica Gott leads the Northwest Conference with six doubles, and no other player in the league has as many as five.


Walk this way

Although the Loggers to find hits in recent games (.251 team batting average), the patient Loggers are drawing enough walks to enter the weekend with a respectable .352 on-base percentage. Haley Gray and Amber Popovich lead the team with five walks, while Erica Gott and Mackensie Pearlstein have both drawn four walks this season.


Scouting Linfield (2-3, 0-0 NWC)

Through their first five games of the season, Linfield as lost to Claremont-M-S, and split doubleheaders against both Redlands and Cal Lutheran. Melanie Oord has two homers through five games, while Jessica Woodruff leads Linfield with six RBI. The Wildcats' .301 batting average is second in the league.
