FOREST GROVE, Oregon – Erica Gott hit a grand slam and threw a complete game as the Puget Sound softball team split a doubleheader at Pacific Sunday afternoon.
Puget Sound 2, Pacific 3
Gott threw all six innings for Puget Sound (7-16, 5-9 NWC) and allowed just three earned runs, but the Boxers (14-9, 8-7 NWC), but Pacific walked off with a 3-2 win in the first game of Sunday's doubleheader.
Puget Sound scored both of its runs in the first inning, but Pacific plated two runs in the sixth and one in bottom of the seventh to win it.
Mackensie Pearlstein led off the game by getting hit by a pitch, and Amber Popovich followed by reaching on an error. Jessica Gott advanced both runners with a sacrifice bunt, and Erica Gott roped a double down the left-field line to score both runners.
Puget Sound 7, Pacific 5
The Loggers claimed a 4-0 lead in the first inning and Jessica Gott went the distance in the circle as the Loggers finished the weekend with a 7-5 win over Pacific.
Amber Popovich led off the game with a single to center, and Haley Gray followed by getting hit by a pitch. Jessica Gott was also hit by a pitch to load the bases for her sister, and Erica Gott crushed a grand slam to give the Loggers a big lead early.
Erica Gott went 3-for-5 at the plate with five RBI. Popovich finished 2-for-2 with a walk.
The Loggers have a make-up game at Lewis & Clark, Thursday, March 29, starting at 4 p.m.
