McMINNVILLE, Oregon – Maddie Colombo went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a double at No. 4 Linfield, but the Puget Sound softball team lost both ends of a doubleheader against the Wildcats. Linfield won the first game, 10-2 (6 inn.), and the second game, 9-0 (5 inn.).
During the first game, the Loggers (2-11, 0-4 NWC) entered the third inning in a 4-0 deficit. In the top of the third inning, Hana DeGuzman hit a one-out single and she promptly stole second base. Kelsie Sullivan followed by reaching base on an error, and Noelle Kerr delivered an RBI single to put the Loggers on the board.
Colombo led off the fourth inning with a double to left field, but Linfield (6-1-1, 4-0 NWC) saw to it that she was stranded in scoring position. Puget Sound tallied one more run in the fifth. Sullivan and Abbi Wong both hit singles, and Colombo followed with a single of her own to score Sullivan.
Puget Sound hosts its first home games of the season against Pacific, March 9.
