Location change has Loggers hosting Whitworth this weekend

TACOMA, Washington – A four-game Northwest Conference series that was originally scheduled in Spokane has been moved to Tacoma as the Puget Sound softball team hosts Whitworth, March 16-17.

Hana homers

Puget Sound freshman Hana DeGuzman belted her first-career home run for Puget Sound, March 10. Batting leadoff and playing shortstop against Pacific at home, DeGuzman wasted little time in clearing the outfield fence.


Freshmen flex

DeGuzman isn't the only Logger freshman with a home run this season. Abbi Wong blasted a solo shot at Antelope Valley (Feb. 23).



Puget Sound's leading hitter is also its leader for innings pitched. Freshman Kelsie Sullivan is hitting .366 so far this season, and she has logged 44.2 innings in the circle.


Knock 'em in

Maddie Colombo, Hana DeGuzman, and Marissa Oda are tie for the team lead in RBI with six, apiece.


Scouting Whitworth (12-3, 7-0 NWC)

The Pirates have won 11 consecutive games, and they rank second in the NWC for team batting average (.348). Whitworth holds the lowest ERA (2.16) in the NWC. Kinsey McNuaught ranks third in the NWC for batting average (.481), and Drea Schwaier-Wolf is third in ERA (1.95) through 46.2 innings.
