Nearly 90 Puget Sound student-athletes received their undergraduate diplomas during the university’s 127th commencement in Baker Stadium Sunday afternoon. More than 3,000 people were attendance during the warm and sunny event.
Puget Sound Athletics finished fourth for the 2018-19 Northwest Conference McIlroy-Lewis All-Sports Trophy, rounding out the academic year with 198 points. The Loggers matched Whitman in the standings, and Whitworth led the NWC with 268 points.
More than 400 Puget Sound student-athletes, coaches, staff, family, and friends gathered in Memorial Fieldhouse Tuesday evening for the annual All-Sports Celebration. The Loggers celebrated a wide array of accomplishments for the 2018-19 year, ranging from Northwest Conference titles to Academic All-American honors.
Seniors Mckenna Johnson and Jessica Shimoda played in their final games with the Puget Sound softball as the Loggers concluded their 2019 season with a couple of home games against Pacific Lutheran Saturday afternoon. The Lutes won both games, 10-4 and 11-1.
The Puget Sound softball team rounds out its 2019 season with a home-and-road series against Pacific Lutheran, April 19-20. The Loggers play two games at PLU Friday, starting at 2 p.m. Puget Sound then hosts the Lutes for the final two games of 2019, starting at 12 p.m.
Kelsie Sullivan was dominant in the circle for the Puget Sound softball team, striking out a career-high 10 batters in the first game of a doubleheader at Willamette Saturday afternoon. However, the Loggers lost the first game, 3-1.
Puget Sound softball senior Mckenna Johnson is a four-year letter winner with the Logger softball team. Her Puget Sound career not only allowed Johnson to continue to play the sport she loves, she also developed a passion beyond her expectations.
The Puget Sound softball team was unphased by a rough first inning, but the Loggers were unable to complete a comeback at home against Whitworth, 6-3, in the first game of a Northwest Conference doubleheader Saturday afternoon. Whitworth won the second game, 8-0.
The Puget Sound softball team held a 3-1 lead through four innings against Pacific, but the Boxers rallied for a 5-3 win at Logger Field Saturday afternoon. Puget Sound lost the second game, 8-0 (5 inn.).
Maddie Colombo went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a double at No. 4 Linfield, but the Puget Sound softball team lost both ends of a doubleheader against the Wildcats. Linfield won the first game, 10-2 (6 inn.), and the second game, 9-0 (5 inn.).
