Loggers Lap Linfield In NWC Dual Meet

McMINNVILLE, Ore. – Freshman Maxwell Cohen (Albuquerque, N.M./La Cueva) and senior Jackson Kowalski (Keizer, Ore./McNary) each won a pair of individual and six Logger women won individual events as the Puget Sound Loggers swept the Linfield Wildcats in a Northwest Conference dual meet on Friday evening in McMinnville, Ore.

On the men’s side, Kowalski started the meet off by helping the 400yd medley relay team win by over 18 seconds over the top Linfield relay team. Kowalski also earned individual wins in the 200yd individual medley and the 200yd backstroke. Cohen was victorious in the 500yd freestyle, edging out Linfield’s Mark Carder by nearly a second, and in the 200yd breaststroke. The Loggers men held off a feisty Linfield bunch by a final score of 110 to 81.

In the women’s races, the Loggers led off the meet with an impressive win in the 400yd medley relay and never slowed down, taking the top three spots in the first individual event as Ann Barrington (Lake Oswego, Ore.) won the 1000yd as the maroon and white took the top three spots. The Loggers women collected a 138-67 victory to move to 3-0 in NWC duals this season.

The Loggers will swim one more meet in 2009 when they return to Oregon next weekend for the Northwest Invitational, hosted by Lewis & Clark.
