Strong start for Logger swimming at NWC Championships

FOREST GROVE, Oregon – The Puget Sound men's and women's swimming teams got off to a good start at the three-day Northwest Conference Championships hosted by Pacific. Through the first day of competition, the Logger men are in third place (147 points), while the women are in fourth (133).

Day 1 Results

Mitch Kilgore led the Puget Sound men to three top-three finishes. Kilgore placed second in the 50-freestyle with a time of 21.05 seconds. He also joined  Keven Henley, Evan Hamamoto, and Clayton Jacobson in the third-place 200 freestyle relay time (1:25.55). Jared Fisk placed third in the 500-freestyle by timing in at 4:41.73.

Melissa Norrish picked up a second-place finish in the women's 500-freestyle with a time of 5:04.74. She and Sam Anders, Ally Hembree, and Auri Clark finished second in the 400 medley relay with a time of 3:56.83. 

The conference championships continue on Saturday morning.
