Loggers break in new Wallace Pool with wins over Lewis & Clark

TACOMA, Washington – The Puget Sound men's and women's swim teams opened the new Wallace Pool in the Athletics & Aquatics Center with victories over Lewis & Clark on Friday night. The Logger men topped the Pioneers, 126-78, while the Logger women won, 117.50-87.50.

Carmen Mena earned the Loggers' first victory of the evening by winning the women's 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:23.03. Mena also placed second in the 500 freestyle by touching the wall in 5:33.64. Puget Sound continued its dominance in freestyle competition as Erin Jenkins won in the 50 in 25.29.

Calista Skog was the top finisher in the 200 individual medley (2:18.48), and Kayla Dimicco won the 100 freestyle (56.74). The Logger women also won the 400 freestyle relay in 3:53.76 (Dimicco, Megan Sanders, Kayli Brown, Alex Koga).

On the men's side, Mitch Kilgore won the men's 50 freestyle by timing in at 22.23, and he won the 100 freestyle (50.08). Nick Mitchell was the top finisher in the 1,000 freestyle (10:07.11), and Justin Sasano won the 200 butterfly in 2:05.99.

Just as the women's team, the Logger men were victorious in the 400 freestyle relay by finishing in 3:23.54 (Dylan Reimers, Mitchell, Cody Dodge, Kilgore).

The Logger teams host Pacific on Saturday, Nov. 5, at 1 p.m.
