Puget Sound Hall of Famer Andrea Boitano Donovan joined the Loggers’ coaching staff in the fall of 2018.

Donovan had a remarkable career at Puget Sound as a member of two NAIA National Championship cross country teams, as well as two runner up team finishes. She garnered All-American cross country honors in 1995, 1996, and 1997. She also shined in track and field, achieving all American honors in 1996, 1997 and 1998. Donovan’s achievements are still fixtures on the Logger all-time performance lists.

Before joining the Logger coaching staff, she had coaching experience at Wilson High School and Bellarmine Prep High School - both in Tacoma. While at Bellarmine she helped guide outstanding distance runner Brianna Felnagle to eight individual state championships in cross country and track. Also during her tenure at Bellarmine the cross country and track teams captured three state championships and two runner-up places.

At the collegiate level, Donovan was instrumental into the success of recent Logger running stars Colin Monaghan ’22, and Emery Bradlina ’19.

Donovan believes running can be the gateway to success in other aspects of your life. “If you can run long distances, you can achieve anything.” By staying connected to her Puget Sound running mates throughout the years she has witnessed this in person as many are very successful in business, education, law and medicine.

When it comes to competing - staying positive and staying in the moment are her keys to a successful race. Being mentally tough and not being satisfied with the status quo also gives an edge during competition. “Have a hunger to be on top and enjoy competing because there is no tomorrow.”

Donovan graduated from Puget Sound in 1998 with a degree in Psychology. She graduated from Seattle University School of Law in 2001, Juris Doctor.

Donovan lives with her husband, Tom, in Federal Way. They have two children, Addison and Thomas.
