SEATTLE, Wash. - Running against an almost entirely DI field, Puget Sound senior Francis Reynolds (Palo Alto, Calif.) met the NCAA Division III provisional qualifying mark in the men's 5000m on Friday night at the Husky Classic in Seattle.
Reynolds was one of just three non-DI athletes in his heat of the 5000m run and he didn't disappoint as he took eighth in the 18-person field. His time of 14:46.05 is the seventh best time in the nation this season, according to raceberryjam.com.
Reynolds will now wait to see if he will earn a spot in the 2010 NCAA DIII Indoor Track and Field Championships, which will be held on Mar. 12-13 at DePauw University in Greencastle, Ind.
The rest of the Loggers will be in action on Sunday when they wrap up the indoor regular season at the UW Open at Dempsey Indoor in Seattle.
