PARKLAND, Wash. - Competing in their final meet before spring break, the Puget Sound Loggers collected a bunch of conference qualifying marks at the PLU Invitational on Saturday at Pacific Lutheran University in Parkland, Wash.
Sophomore Andrea Leiken (Portland, Ore./Sunset) earned NWC qualifying marks in both the 200m dash (27.40) and the 400m dash (1:02.78). Sophomore Nika Evans (Wayzata, Minn.) set a PR in the 1500m run to reach the conference qualifying mark with a time of 4:59.92.
Both Marnie Hazlehurst (Portland, Ore./St. Mary's Academy) and Becca Adams (Milwaukie, Ore.) earned NWC marks in the 5000m runs, finishing in times of 19:03.53 and 19:14.36 respectively. In the 3000m steeplechase, Carrie Keith (Erie, Colo./Monarch) improved her time to meet the conference mark with a time of 11:48.59.
In the field events, Emily Herr (Kent, Wash./Kennedy) cleared 8-11 in the women's pole vault to earn her spot at the conference championships next month in Spokane, Wash.
On the men's side, both Jesse Baldridge (Piedmont, Calif.) and Cameron Butler (Idaho Falls, Idaho) hit the conference mark in the 3000m steeplechase, with times of 10:18.58 and 10:31.04 respectively.
Freshman Travis Stull (Dallas, Texas/Greenhill) took fourth in the pole vault, clearing 13-3 to reach the conference qualifying mark.
The majority of the Loggers will take a bit of a break this week while the heptathlon and decathlon athletes will compete in those events for the first time as Caitlin McGrane (Colville, Wash.) heads to the Cal State Northridge Spring Break Open while the remainder head to Salem, Ore. for the Willamette Invite.
