SPOKANE, Wash. – Three top-three finishes by Puget Sound senior Caitlin McGrane (Colville, Wash.) highlighted the Logger efforts on the final day of the 2010 Northwest Conference Track and Field Champiopnships, hosted by Whitworth University in Spokane, Wash.
McGrane started the day with a second play finish in the 100m hurdles, improving her provisional qualifying mark with a time of 14.84. In the women’s 400m dash, McGrane improved her season best time, taking second with a time of 58.57.
McGrane added another medal in the 800m run, taking third with a time of 2:22.74 in a raced that saw the top three finishers separated by just four-tenths of a second. Junior Hayley Walker (Cambria, Calif./Coast Union) took fifth in the 5000m run, posting a time of 18:46.05.
On the men’s side, sophomore Wiley Putnam (Seattle, Wash./Overlake) took sixth in the 400m dash with a time of 50.84. In the 5000m run, senior Francis Reynolds (Palo Alto, Calif.) took fourth with a time of 15:24.14, less than 24 hours after winning the conference title in the 10000m run.
In the final team scores, the Loggers scored 74 points to finish seventh in a competitive women’s field while 30 points was enough to garner the Logger men with a sixth place finish. Defending champions Willamette and Whitworth won the women’s and men’s titles respectively.
The Loggers will look to continue to earn qualifying marks for the 2010 NCAA Division III Championships next week when they head down to Forest Grove on Saturday for the Pacific Twi-Lite Meet.
