In addition to his national appearance, Monaghan was the 2018 Northwest Conference Men's Cross Country Champion. Wells was the second Logger to reach NCAA D-III Track & Field Championships in 2018 - Emery Bradlina ran for a naitonal title in the indoor 800-m.

The 2015-16 year was one of the most memorable for the Puget Sound cross country and track & field programs. Orechia coached Tyler Shipley to a Northwest Conference cross country title. Shipley and Geremia Lizier-Zmudzinski both competed in the NCAA Championships in 2015, and Shipley was also named the USTFCCCA West Region Male Athlete of the Year. The USTFCCCA also honored Orechia with West Region Men's Coach of the Year for the indoor track & field season, as sophomore Geremia Lizier-Zmudzinski earned USTFCCCA Male Track Athlete of the Year. The Loggers earned three All-Americans during the indoor season, and received two more All-American nods during the 2016 outdoor season.

Orechia became the Director of Cross Country/Track & Field at the University of Puget Sound in 1997. It was through his leadership that the women's team qualified for the first time in the school's history to compete in a NCAA championship where they placed fourteenth in 1993. During his time at the University of Chicago, Orechia coached ten All-Americans.

His other coaching experience includes coaching Stella Edwinson who participated in the 1984 Olympic trials in the 400m hurdles, Assistant Track & Field/ Cross Country coach at San Francisco State University (1983-1987), and Head Girls Track Coach at Danvers High School (1979-1981).
