TACOMA, Washington – Four Loggers score double-digit points as the Puget Sound women's basketball team defeated Evergreen State, 65-62, at home on Wednesday evening. With the win, the Loggers remain unbeaten to open the season.
Puget Sound opened the game on a 19-6 run, the biggest lead of the game. The Loggers never trailed through 40 minutes against the Geoducks (4-3). Noren led the scoring in the first half, with 10 points, while remaining perfect through all scoring statistics.
The Loggers held a 40-33 lead at halftime.
With 7:37 remaining, the Geoducks pulled within two, the closest score line since the opening minutes of the game. The Loggers then scored four straight points on two Erin Stumbaugh jump shots to pull away from Evergreen St.
The Geoducks again came within three of the Loggers, 59-56, with 3:50 remaining.
Puget Sound was able to hold off Evergreen State as the minutes wound down. Sheldon scored four points while Noren had a steal, layup and assist in the final two minutes to help lock in the win for the Loggers.
Defensively, the Loggers held the Geoducks to 36.1% shooting from the floor while forcing 20 turnovers that resulted in 21 points.
The Loggers wrap up the preseason next Saturday, Dec. 20 as they host Cal Lutheran at 4pm.
