
TACOMA, Washington – The Puget Sound women's basketball team opens its Northwest Conference schedule at home against Whitworth and Whitman this weekend. The Loggers take on the Pirates Friday, Dec. 1, at 6 p.m., and tipoff against the No. 8/9 Blues Saturday, Dec. 2, at 4 p.m.

Feed the streak
After losing their first game of the season against St. Martin's, 74-57, the Loggers strung together three consecutive wins. Puget Sound's current win streak includes victories over Claremont-M-S (69-65), Multnomah Bible (69-49), and Warner Pacific (68-65).
Battle on the boards
Through four games this season, Puget Sound holds a +9.3 rebound margin. Meghan Hamel averages 7.0 rebounds per game, and Elizabeth Prewitt follows closely with 6.8. Jamie Lange, who played her first two games of the season last weekend, is averaging 9.0 boards per game. The Loggers are the second-leading NWC team in rebounding (46.5).

Conference landscape
Seven of the Northwest Conference's nine teams are .500 or better. Whitman's 4-1 overall record is the best in the league, followed by 3-1 records for Whitworth and Puget Sound. Lewis & Clark is 4-2, and Willamette is 3-2. George Fox and Linfield are both 2-2.
Scouting Whitworth (3-1)
The Pirates lead the NWC in rebounding with 47.3 boards per game. Camy Aquinaldo leads the NWC in 3-point shooting by hitting 55.6 percent of her shots from distance. Madison Moffat is fifth in the NWC for both scoring (14.0) and rebounding (9.0). Whitworth's only loss this season is against Lewis & Clark State, 74-50.
Scouting No. 8/9 Whitman (4-1)
The Blues enter the weekend ranked No. 8 in the D3hoops.com Top 25, and No. 9 in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Top 25. Whitman has a league-best 48.1 field-goal percentage. Whitman's only loss so far was the season-opener against Eastern Oregon, 73-64. Makana Stone (65.9 percent) and Maegan Martin (58.8 percent) are top two in the NWC for field-goal percentage.
