Loggers downed by Benedictine in overtime
 
PARKLAND, Washington - The Puget Sound women's basketball team fell to Benedictine in overtime, 82-75, Saturday afternoon in the Pacific Lutheran Tournament.
 
Jamie Lange notched her fourth double-double of the season with 15 points and 13 rebounds. Elizabeth Prewitt led the Loggers in scoring with 20 points, and Mara Henderson added 14 points to go with six rebounds and five assists. Puget Sound narrowly won the rebound battle, 44-43. 

The Loggers (4-4) entered the second quarter with a six-point lead over the Eagles, 21-15. They extended their lead quickly to 14 points after back-to-back 3-pointers by RaeAnn Allen and Henderson, plus a jumper in the paint by Claire Fitzgerald.

The Eagles (7-1) closed the deficit to nine points, 38-29, by halftime. Puget Sound regained a significant lead with three minutes to go in the third quarter with a 15-point advantage. Benedictine continued to battle, closing the gap back down to nine points before the fourth quarter.

The Eagles kept fighting and tied it up after a 3-pointer by Jenna Endres with three minutes remaining in the game.

Courtney Knecht got the Loggers on the board first in overtime after sinking a jumper. Puget Sound secured three more points in overtime thanks to a trey from Elizabeth Prewitt, but that bucket stood as the Loggers' last points of the game.

The Loggers take on Aurora Sunday, Dec. 17, at 2 p.m., in the final day of the PLU Tournament.
