TACOMA, Washington – Before the start of the Puget Sound women's basketball team's game against Pacific Saturday afternoon, the Loggers honored senior Claire Fitzgerald who was playing in her final game in Memorial Fieldhouse. Fitzgerald has played in 91 games during her Logger career, including 65 starts.
Fitzgerald left Memorial Fieldhouse in style by notching a double-double against the Boxers. She finished with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Puget Sound fell to Pacific, 79-74. Despite holding a 38-30 lead at halftime, the Loggers (11-12, 6-8 NWC) allowed the Boxers (4-18, 3-11 NWC) to claim a two-point lead by the end of the third quarter.
Cassidy Daugherty caught fire in the fourth quarter for the Loggers. She hit an early 3-pointer that cut the Loggers' deficit to 63-58 one minute into the final period. Later in the quarter, Daugherty hit a pair of 3-pointers within a 30-second span, cutting Pacific's lead to 65-64 with 3:56 on the clock. However, the Loggers could not reclaim a lead.
