Women's basketball set for its home debut

TACOMA, Washington – The Puget Sound women's basketball team makes its home debut Tuesday, Nov. 26, when the Loggers host Northwest Christian at 7 p.m. The Loggers then host No. 23 Augsburg Saturday, Nov. 30, at 1 p.m.

Even in the Golden State

The 2019-20 season began in California, Nov. 15-16, where the Loggers beat Cal Lutheran, 72-70, but lost to Claremont-M-S, 61-59.

 

Records abound

Jamie Lange added to her prestigious Puget Sound resume during the Loggers' season-opening win at Cal Lutheran (Nov. 15). Lange pulled down a record-setting 24 rebounds, topping Michelle Joy's school record of 23 rebounds for a game. Joy's record was achieved during the 1988-89 season. Lange averaged 13.5 points and 16.0 rebounds between the two Cali games.

 

The door's open

Cassidy Daugherty is the Loggers' leading scorer through the first two games of the season, averaging 14.5 points per contest. She is the only Logger averaging more than 30 minutes per game (33.0).

 

Scouting Northwest Christian (2-1)

Competing the NAIA's Cascade Collegiate Conference, Northwest Christian has wins over Willamette and Simpson, and a loss against Carroll. Morgan McKinney leads the team in scoring with 13.0 points per game, and she is the top rebounder with 6.0 boards per game. The team is shooting 38.7-percent from the floor, and 30.9-percent from 3-point range.

 

Scouting No. 23 Augsburg (4-0)

Out of the NCAA D-III Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, the nationally-ranked Auggies are off to a hot start this season. Three players average double-digits in scoring: Camryn Speese (15.3), Tamira McLemore (14.8), Aiza Wilson (12.5). Jazmyn Soiseth averages 9.8 points per game, and she is the team's leading rebounder with 8.0 rebounds per game.
