Lacrosse travels to Whitman, hosts Linfield to open NWC play

TACOMA, Washington – The Puget Sound women's lacrosse team is set to open Northwest Conference play this weekend. The Loggers will travel to Whitman on Saturday, before hosting Linfield on Sunday.

Puget Sound's last game

The Loggers played Piedmont last Monday, falling, 13-6. Kerri Smith scored four goals in the game, while Meghan Bacher and Andriana Cunningham each scored as well.

Kerri-ing the load

Kerri Smith missed last season with an injury, but she is back with a vengeance in 2016. The senior scored in the opening game against Southwestern, and then came through with four goals against Piedmont. Smith has scored five of the Loggers' eight goals this year, while recording seven draw controls and ten ground balls in two games.

Scouting the Missionaries (0-1)

Whitman began the season with an 11-9 loss to Southwestern. Lindsay Schwartz recorded four goals, while Bea Sheffer scored three goals. Nina Henelsmith and Savannah McNichol each picked up six ground balls. Goalkeeper McNichol (0-1) made nine saves. The Missionaries are coming off a season in which they finished 2-6, including falling twice to the Loggers (17-6 and 14-10).

Scouting the Wildcats (0-0)

Linfield has yet to play a game in 2016 thus far. They finished the 2015 season 0-16 overall, and 0-8 in NWC play. The Wildcats top returner is Kelsey Dammarell, who scored 16 goals in nine games.
